Other than reading Anastasia’s book from the Royal Diaries series when I was in elementary school (best books ever), I have never read anything about the Bolchevik revolution, I really really enjoy reading historical fiction from a period of history I know very little about. When the Bolchevik revolution turns Sofya’s world upside down, it becomes a story of survival and hope for all three women. LOST ROSES tracks three women-Eliza, a wealthy American in New York, her best friend, Sofya, a wealthy Russian woman, and Varinka, Sofya’s servant. LOST ROSES is for fans of traditional historical fiction, but wasn’t really anything extraordinary in my mind. So I’ve never read Lilac Girls.maybe I’m one of the last people on the planet who hasn’t? But when I heard a prequel to Lilac Girls was coming out, I thought SURE why not. ![]()
